LANDSCAPING AUSTRALIA INC 2011 NATIONAL CONFERENCE

12 - 14 May 2011

Lachlan's Old Government House, Parramatta

The national conference was held over three days 12 - 14 May at the beautiful historic Lachlan's Old Government House Parramatta, with the first day being a welcome reception held at the new premises of Landscape NSW & ACT where delegates from different states could meet and network. Day two was a full day conference with presentations from varied and topical speakers ranging from technology, innovation, communication and business processes. In the evening after the conference the awards dinner was held with awards presented in recognition of quality work and professionalism of finalists from each state. The awards encompassed three residential, two commercial, maintenance and environmental projects. The final day was a bus tour to visit a number of high profile quality landscapes in both residential and commercial sites.

Awards for Excellence winners in 2011 were:

Residential Landscape Construction under $75,000 – Peter Milliken Landscapes, Queensland
Residential Landscape Construction $75,000 - $150,000 – RB Landscapes, Victoria
Residential Landscape Construction over $150,000 – Phase3 Landscape Construction, Western Australia
Commercial Landscape Construction under $250,000 – Design Landscapes Pty Ltd, New South Wales
Commercial Landscape Construction over $250,000 – Urban Contractors, ACT
Landscape Maintenance – Phillip Johnson Landscapes, Victoria and The Green Horticultural Group, New South Wales (dual winners)
Environmental Awards – Simpson Landscapes and Consultants Pty Ltd, New South Wales

The conference proved to be an outstanding success as noted by delegates on the evaluations sheets. It was encouraging to see a number of young landscapers attending the conference and their interest and concern for the future direction of the industry.
