National Industry Analysis 2010
Landscaping Australia is currently undertaking a national industry analysis. The national landscape contracting industry in Australia encompasses more than 13,000 companies with approximately 53,000 employees. Changes within the industry predominantly due to the emphasis now being placed on the environment, the green industries and the alliances between many demand and supply chain members within Lifestyle Horticulture. This survey will cover all the states in Australia and will cover issues such as:
- turnover
- employment
- apprenticeships and trainees
- break-up of revenue by supply/demand chain
- innovation undertaken
- affect of new environmental and climate change trends
- issues affecting the your landscape business currently
The above are just some examples of questions that will be evaluated.
This survey is due for completion by end June 2010 and will be made available to members of Landscaping Australia.
Landscaping Australia Education Project
Landscaping Australia were able to secure financial support from the Federal Government’s AgriFood Skills Australia who in partnership with Landscaping Australia Inc, has completed a workforce development project across the national landscaping industry.
The project was identified from the industry's concerns over a number of labour market and workforce development issues, especially relating to new higher-level skill requirements, and labour attraction and retention in the face of high demand from other industries (Mining). AgriFood and the sector have identified current and future skill requirements for established and more senior industry workers, as well as preferred training delivery methods and associated issues.
The project, which included quantitative and qualitative components, also reviewed business-related skills required to operate small-medium landscaping businesses, and industry members’ preferred methods of learning, including the role of and attitudes toward e-learning and social media across all states.
